Faculty Instructional Development
The Office of Medical Student Education (OMSE) is committed to strengthening and advancing the faculty and curriculum development programs at the UA College of Medicine (UA COM). OMSE staff consists of professionals in education, education research, teacher education and related fields.
OMSE develops and provides workshops and instructional resources to assist faculty in enhancing their teaching skills and knowledge base of current curricula, pedagogy, and a developmental approach to learning. OMSE works collaboratively with faculty to design and implement innovative teaching methods as well as instructional design and curriculum development. Additionally, we provide instruction that will assist faculty in enhancing their understanding of technological advancements (imaging software, virtual slides and Audience Response System) fundamental to teaching.
OMSE also partners with the Academy of Medical Eduation Scholars (AMES) to deliver the AMES\OMSE series of events addressing a variety of issues concerning faculty instructional development. This series presents monthly events from August through May each year.
